️ Rahul Gandhi Escalates Allegations of Vote Fraud, Demands Electoral Transparency

New Delhi, 18 September 2025
Congress MP and Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi have reignited the national debate on electoral integrity, alleging large-scale vote fraud in recent elections and calling for sweeping reforms to ensure transparency in India’s democratic process.

Speaking during his visit to Raebareli, Gandhi claimed that the Election Commission of India (ECI) had “facilitated vote theft” in key constituencies, including Mahadevapura in Karnataka, where his party alleges over 1,00,250 votes were manipulated. “This is no longer a claim—it’s a fact,” Gandhi stated. “We will present dynamic and explosive evidence. The slogan ‘vote chor, gaddi chor’ is echoing across the country because it reflects the truth.”

Allegations and Evidence

Gandhi’s accusations stem from Congress-led investigations into voter rolls, which reportedly uncovered:

  • Duplicate entries and fake addresses
  • Bulk registrations at single locations
  • Invalid photographs and misuse of Form 6

The Congress party claims these irregularities contributed to BJP’s electoral victories in Maharashtra, Haryana, and Karnataka. Gandhi has promised to release what he calls a “hydrogen bomb” of evidence in the coming weeks.

EC Response and Legal Pushback

The Election Commission has categorically denied the allegations, calling them “false and misleading”. A Public Interest Litigation (PIL) seeking clarification from the EC was recently dismissed by the Madras High Court, which imposed a ₹1 lakh fine on the petitioner for lack of concrete evidence.

Former Chief Election Commissioner S.Y. Quraishi, however, urged the EC to investigate the claims rather than dismiss them outright. “Rahul Gandhi is not a man on the street—he represents millions. His concerns deserve scrutiny,” Quraishi said.

Voter Adhikaar Yatra Gains Momentum

In parallel, Gandhi concluded a 16-day Voter Adhikaar Yatra across Bihar, covering over 1,300 kilometers and 20 districts. The campaign, joined by RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav, aimed to raise awareness about alleged voter roll discrepancies and mobilize public demand for electoral reform.

What’s Next?

With assembly elections looming, Gandhi’s rhetoric is expected to intensify. The Congress party is preparing to release documents and data that it claims will expose systemic manipulation of India’s electoral machinery.

As the political temperature rises, the issue of electoral transparency is set to dominate headlines—and potentially reshape public trust in democratic institutions.
